Many computers have a built-in “firewall” system. This system comes completely standard on nearly every computer these days and acts just as its name says; it forms a wall around your computer and the Internet. If some interloper tried to hack into your computer using some break-in software, they would be kicked out by the firewall. This also stops some pop-ups and phishing e-mails that contain viruses and other harmful things to your system.

This is just a small sampling of things you can do to keep your computer safe and secure. These are all quick fixes that can be done easily at home and will bolster your security. There are many other pieces of software that you can use to increase your Internet security.
